Some came to learn more about the logistics of international trade. Others wanted additional details on Port Lansing and the Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) No. 275 designation at Capital Region International Airport.
Whatever drew them to the 2012 Port Lansing Global Logistics Conference, attendees came away more informed about the value of international trade, how to go about distributing goods overseas and the potential of the FTZ to boost global commerce for Greater Lansing businesses.
The May 15 event timed to coincide with International Trade Month attracted more than 100 people to Michigan State University s Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.
Two dozen experts on international trade spoke at the conference, including keynote presenters James Blanchard, former Michigan governor and past U.S. ambassador to Canada and Michael Finney, Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) president and CEO.
