Logistics And Frieght Forwarding

Operation Christmas Child benefits needy kids throughout the world.

For the third consecutive year, John and Kathleen Fosmire have made their John Patrick Hair Design in Santa Ynez a drop-off point for Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child was started in 1990 by Dave and Jill Cooke, of Wales, while they were were watching a broadcast on war-torn Romania. The couple took action, filling nine trucks with medical supplies, food, clothing and Christmas gifts for the children of the region.

It was the beginning of the world’s largest Christmas gift program. In 1993, Operation Christmas Child was adopted by Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse. Shoeboxes full of supplies and gifts are distributed all over the globe via cargo planes and ultimately shuttled by any form of transportation that works, which may include motorcycles, kayaks, bicycles and animals, or carried by locals on foot.

To date, Operation Christmas Child has delivered over 124 million boxes worldwide. Filled with necessary staples, hygiene items, gifts and a note from the giver, the boxes can be life-changing, given the extreme poverty of the recipients. Empty boxes can be picked up at the salon and filled boxes must be returned to John Patrick’s Salon by Nov.
