Throughput of port HaminaKotka (Finland) up 2.4% to 9.89 mln t in 9M’16

In January-September 2016, the Port of HaminaKotka (Finland) handled 9.89 mln t of cargo (+2.4%, year-on-year). According to the port authorities, transshipment of export cargo climbed by 3.2% to 7.15 mln t including 1.99 mln t of paper (-2.9%), 1.15 mln t of cellulose (+13.1%), 1.56 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+12.7%) and 667,650 t of loose bulk cargo (-19.1%). Transshipment of import cargo climbed by 0.3% to 2.74 mln t including 783,420 t of packaged cargo (-5.7%), 387,940 t of dry bulk cargo (-19.3%) and 925,770 t of liquid bulk cargo (+6.5%).

Transshipment of transit cargo fell by 5.3% to 2.2 mln t, inland traffic grew by 21.7% to 758,610 t.

Transshipment of containers climbed by 13.4% to 472,210 TEUs, transshipment of automobiles – plunged by 64.7% to 6,093 units.

The number of calls climbed by 0.8% to 19,331 calls. The Port of Kotka is some 50 km from the Russian border, 280 km from St. Petersburg and 1,000 km from Moscow.

Port of Kotka comprises ports of Mussalo, Hietanen, Kantasatama, berth Puolanlaituri (Polish berth), berth Halla, and also port premises Sunila.

Port of Hamina is the eastern port of Finland located 35 km from the Russian border.

In 2015, the port handled 13 mln t of cargo.
