AN autopsy is expected to be performed on the body of a 40-year-old man who died on a cargo ship out in the Gulf of Paria on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Anastacio Rocamora.
And while up to last night sources could not confirm Rocamora’s nationality, it was noted that the vessel – named the Sam Sun – was said to have originated from the Philippines.
Rocamora, police were told, was securing cables several feet in the air on Friday afternoon while the vessel was out in sea, when, he allegedly removed his harness.
The 40-year-old man then slipped, and hit his head on the deck of the boat.
He was killed instantly.
As a result of the incident, the boat’s captain notified the Coast Guard and the vessel was taken to the Port of Port of Spain.
Officers of the Central Police Station (CPS) were called to retrieve the body.
Investigations are continuing.
