In January-October 2016, the Port of HaminaKotka (Finland) handled 10.96 mln t of cargo (+2%, year-on-year). According to the port authorities, transshipment of export cargo climbed by 2.6% to 7.9 mln t including 2.19 mln t of paper (-3.1%), 1.26 mln t of cellulose (+12.5%), 1.73 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+15.6%) and 730,380 t of loose bulk cargo (-26%). Transshipment of import cargo climbed by 2% to 10.96 mln t including 817,360 t of packaged cargo (-4.4%), 430,980 t of dry bulk cargo (-21.8%) and 1.03 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+5.2%).
Transshipment of transit cargo fell by 7.8% to 2.42 mln t, inland traffic grew by 28.2% to 845,060 t.
Transshipment of containers climbed by 14.1% to 529,900 TEUs, transshipment of automobiles – plunged by 66.8% to 6,241 units.
The number of calls climbed by 1% to 2,149 calls. The Port of Kotka is some 50 km from the Russian border, 280 km from St. Petersburg and 1,000 km from Moscow.
Port of Kotka comprises ports of Mussalo, Hietanen, Kantasatama, berth Puolanlaituri (Polish berth), berth Halla, and also port premises Sunila.
