High Court approves surrender of Eamon Harrison to UK over Essex truck deaths

A High Court judge has approved the extradition of Eamon Harrison to UK authorities over the deaths of 39 people in Essex.  Mr Justice Donald Binchy said there is nothing in law to preclude the surrender of Mr Harrison.  The judge said he considered making the order today but agreed to a defence request not to, so to allow them time to consider an appeal.

The judgment is 150 pages long and the judge said the defence will need time to consider it.

Mr Harrison was remanded in custody with the case due before the High Court again on 4 February.
