If you're like us here at HOT ROD, then you love hearing stories from family about the cars your old relatives drove back in the day, and seeing old pictures just makes it that much more interesting. Jacob Barth of Bismarck, North Dakota, hit the home run when it comes to automotive sentimental value because he owns the 1938 Ford truck his great-great grandfather purchased new. "It was my great-great grandfather Christ Barth who bought the truck new from Moser Ford in Mott, North Dakota," Jacob told us. "He had it until it was sold at a farm estate sale, and after a few years Christ's son George bought the truck back.

It stayed in the family from then on."

In 2011, Jacob, with a lot of help from his grandfather Roger Barth, decided to breathe new life into the truck. Over eight years, they completely restored the Ford and gave it a more modern chassis and powertrain in the process. They set the 1938 Ford Pickup cab and bed on a 1992 Chevy S10 chassis that they cut 11-inches out of, then bestowed it with a 350ci small-block and TH350 transmission.

Recently, Jacob's grandfather Roger has been diagnosed with two different cancers, which threatens his ability to do what he loves and keep building hot rods. "There is literally nothing in this world that comes close to being able to explain how much I appreciate what he has done for me," Jacob said.
