Police turn Trump Tower into fortress surrounded by trucks amid fears of unrest

Police have formed a barricade around Trump Tower in New York amid fears of unrest. In scenes reminiscent of 2016, pictures show trucks filled with gravel surrounding the building. Fences have also been put up around the Manhattan skyscraper as it is turned into a fortress - with police saying they will "freeze" the city if violence breaks out.

It comes as groups of protesters gather around the city, with a number congregating outside the building. The trucks prevent anyone getting near Trump Tower, and provide a shield in the event of a bomb.

New York's Sergeants Benevolent Association has warned that unrest is "inevitable". NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said yesterday: "The police officers are going to be out in force. "They're going to have zero tolerance for it.

Zero tolerance.

I can't be any more clear than that."
